Ken supports scrapping of legislation that would allow bike removal

Ken supports scrapping of legislation that would allow bike removal - "This legislation would give Councils the power to remove any cycles in the vicinity of posted notices where, in their opinion, bikes are a 'nuisance' or offend against 'good management of the highway'."

Hopefully this never comes to Darlington.

Jill doesn't just dance, she cycles too

"Perhaps Strictly Come Dancing winner Jill Halfpenny will cycle to her new job as one of the two female leads in Chicago in London's West End? She's just one of the cycling celebs in our irregular look at who's whom on two wheels. For instance, Condor Cycles can confirm Mick Jagger rides and Chris Tarrant does so with his wife (Tarrant's wife, that is, they've just bought a tandem...)"

And there are some surprises in the list too...

Cyclocross Photos

The cyclocross race I entered the other month must rate as the hardest hour I ever spent on a bike. These cyclocross photos brought some of it back.

Planned bike-related activities in Darlington

Just stumbled across this and thought I'd share it. I'm not sure how up-to-date it is.

Activities planned or underway to improve facilities for cyclists include:

  • New pedestrian/cycle/equestrian bridge crossing the A66.
  • Upgrading of traffic free cycle paths (Eastbourne cycle path).
  • Installation of toucan crossings (Yarm Road, West Auckland Road).
  • Work with Sustrans to link Darlington to the National Cycle Network.
  • Input into the joint publication of a Tees Valley cycle map.
  • Publication of a free Darlington cycle map and guide
  • Installation of cycle parking at rail stations.
  • Revision of the Darlington Cycling Strategy.
