Yes, and there are hardly any politicians who take them on. The lobby of the industry, in Bremen especially the Handelskammer (Chamber of Commerce)rubbing shoulders with the ADAC (The car drivers' club: Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club)and Mercedes Benz Bremen (big car factory in Bremen)makes it very hard to stand against any measures that challenge motorists.

Reinhard Loske knows what he is talking about, having had to fight for a so called "Umweltzone" that bans dirty cars from the center of Bremen, cars that emit too much fine dust, which is extremely dangerous to our lungs. After loads of compromises we have it now (like Berlin, Hannover and many other German cities).

But if you look at British car drivers and how many of them react to bicycles on "their" roads, you ask yourself, what is going on in their brains.

Cycling in a group of eight people thru Darlo, I made the experience that car drivers were swearing at us, because they had to slow down a bit until they could overtake.

Cycling on my own I very often was bullied by car drivers as well. They cut my priority even in small round-abouts, ignoring me, nearly driving into me whilst turning out.

Cars and aggression, that seems to come together with many people.wuppidochttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12146251197662222605noreply@blogger.com
